🌟 Exciting news! We are thrilled to be kicking off Youth Art Month at the Turner Center for the Arts! Check out the incredible talent and creativity of our young artists. #YouthArtMonth #TurnerCenterForTheArts #CreativityUnleashed 🎨🌟

🎨 Our amazing 4th graders took on the role of mentors for our talented Pre-K students as they embarked on creating their out of this world Space Art for our upcoming school art show! We had a blast learning how to play "Van Gogh Says," discovering how to wake up tempera cakes, helping Commander Armstrong identify mysterious shapes he discovered during his last space mission, and celebrating an amazing art class by dancing with Storm Troopers. It was truly inspiring to see the creativity and teamwork in action. 🌟🪐 #ArtBuddies #CreativityInAction #MentoringMagic 🚀🌌

Your 4th/5th grade girls basketball team came back from a tough start of the season to win 16-0 in the last round of playoffs. They made it into the championship game on Tuesday at 5:30 at Newbern. It's totally free to get in, and I know they would love to see their teachers and staff there to support them! I am so proud to have coached them the last 3 seasons!!!!! If you see them around school, show them some love, they are so deserving!

🍬 Life is SO SWEET in fourth-grade math! 🍩✨ Donut be jelly—we had the best time with our fractions bakery task! 🎉 We took bakery orders and decorated “brownies” with the perfect fractions of toppings. 🍫➕🍓= 😋 Learning has never been more delicious! 🍪📚 #SweetMath #FractionsAreFun

Mrs. Morris and Mrs.Trina's kindergarten reading group wanted to know more about our "bones".
We used our Fun Friday to label and write about our bones In our journals.. What a hit!

Mrs. Umpleby’s 3rd-grade students had a blast using Play-Doh to explore fractions! They partitioned their Play-Doh into halves, thirds, fourths, sixths, and eighths, ensuring each piece was equal. As they worked, they discovered an important fraction rule, the bigger the denominator, the smaller the pieces! Students also compared different fractions, deepening their understanding through hands-on learning.

Our 4th-grade teachers want to give the Dewar 4th grade boys basketball team 🏀 a huge shoutout for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork this season! Their commitment and effort paid off, as they finished the regular season in FIRST PLACE! We are so proud of you! #HardWorkPaysOff #Champions #Vikings

Students in Mrs. Hanson's and Ms. Benefield's 5th-grade ELA classes brought creativity to life by designing costumes inspired by figurative language. Through this imaginative project, they took abstract concepts like similes, metaphors, and personification, and transformed them into visually stunning outfits. Each costume creatively represents a specific literary device—whether it's a "time flies" theme featuring clocks and wings or a "raining cats and dogs" design with playful animals. This project not only sparked their artistic talents but also deepened their understanding of literary concepts by allowing them to embody figurative language in a fun and tangible way.

Ms. Strickland's Kinders enjoyed a fun Valentine themed write the room activity practicing their handwriting and visual memory skills today. Students were given a paper with picture clues and had to search the hallways to find the matching words.
