📚🥣 History Comes to Life in 5th Grade! Our 5th graders took a journey back in time to the Great Depression era! They learned about soup kitchens, which were vital lifelines during a time of widespread unemployment and hunger. To bring history off the pages, they created their our very own LPE Soup Kitchen! Students experienced firsthand what it might have felt like to rely on a single bowl of chicken noodle soup for sustenance. This immersive lesson helped our students: • Understand the challenges faced during the 1930s • Reflect on the importance of community support • Appreciate the value of a warm meal It was a powerful way to make history tangible and foster empathy. #learningatlpe

To finish up their writing unit on Spiders 🕷️ Mrs. Conaway's class did an experiment to recreate how a spider eats. Students drew a web on their cups to represent the spiders woven web, a sugar cube as the insect trapped inside, a straw as the fangs that are used to paralyze prey, and green punch to represent the digestive juices of the spider that break down the insect for the spider to finally enjoy😋. Adding in a little science, they also watched at the sugar cube dissolved into the liquid. Students then gulped down the delicious punch! #learningatlpe
