Mrs. Smith’s AP US Government and Politics classes started the semester off with an activity called Gummy Governments! Students explored other types of governments before diving into the study of US government. Students collaborated to create gummy bear models of both international governments and elements of the US government system to demonstrate their understanding. Over the past several years, Lowndes High has sponsored a Paint Lowndes Pink fundraiser in order to give back to our local community and support individuals who have been affected by cancer. This year, LHS Student Council proudly presented a check to Hilary Willis, SGMC Health Foundation, to be used as needed for patients at Pearlman Cancer Center. "Big Time" tells the story of a young lady who aspires to make it to the proverbial 'big time'. Along the way, she encounters some stereotypical requirements that challenge her core values, causing her to question the path she is on. Through a series of 5 songs and energized choreography, we follow the story of this aspiring star who chooses to stay true to herself while still pursuing her dreams!

The end of the semester is coming to a close which means it's crunch time for engineering student projects. One of the most important career-based skills is project and time management, and experience is always the best teacher! These students are using a wide variety of tools, software, machinery, and electronics to prototype their semester-long capstone projects. Every project is original, designed, and built through iteration and testing. This week these students will have the opportunity to showcase their projects to their school community.
