Welcome to Hahira Elementary School! My name is Neil Wilkes, and I am the Principal at HES. For the past 20 years, I have been in the Lowndes County school system. For education, I received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Master's Degree In Educational Leadership, and a Specialist in Performance-Based leadership Degree through VSU.

I am truly blessed to have a wonderful family! My wife is Brandy Wilkes, and we have two loving children, Aidan and Isabelle.  Aiden is a Tenth grader at Lowndes High, and Isabelle is an Eighth grader at Hahira Middle School.

Hahira Elementary School has a wonderful tradition of learning and excellence. I am excited and proud to work with such excellent teachers at HES. I love to work with children and help students develop skills and values that will be beneficial for future success.

Hello Hahira Family! My name is Sarah Merriman and I am so happy and blessed to be the new Assistant Principal at HES. I attended the Lowndes County School System myself and I am so happy to further my career in the school system I attended. I am a dedicated Viking fan with over 15 years of teaching experience. I have a Masters degree in Education from Valdosta State University and a Specialist degree from Kennesaw State University. 
My husband, Austin Merriman, is the Assistant Director of Transportation for the school system and we have two girls Audrey, 17 and Molly, 12.
I have a huge heart for teachers and students! My door is always open and I can't wait to see all the fun this school year will hold.
