Second Step

Second Step

Second Step is a Social Emotional Learning curriculum that is taught by school counselors at each of our elementary schools. Second Step helps our students gain life skills that promote social and emotional competence and self-regulation in environments beyond the school. Lessons help build sensitivity and encourage peer relationships.

Students need to feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Social emotional learning can boost attendance and graduation rates and lead to better academic performance. This curriculum strengthens the students' ability to resolve conflict, work with others, form healthy relationships, and make good decisions - so students can be more successful socially, emotionally, and academically.
